The New Forests Company Trains TANESCO Engineers


NFCT has made  a commendable sustained contribution to the Government of The United Republic of Tanzania’s electrification programme. The poles which they manufacture and distribute across the length and breadth of Tanzania are of high quality and could withstand comparison to those manufactured anywhere in the world. NFCT in directly contributing to the quality local supplies for the electrification of Tanzania.

Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (TANESCO) is a Parastatal organization established by Memorandum and Articles of Association incorporated on 26th November 1931 which established Tanzania Electric Supply Company Limited (the then Tanganyika Electric Supply Company Limited -TANESCO). The Company generates, purchases, transmits, distributes, and sells electricity to Tanzania Mainland and sells bulk power to the Zanzibar Electricity Corporation (ZECO), which in turn sells it to the public in islands Unguja and Pemba. TANESCO owns most of the electricity generating, transmitting, and distributing facilities in Tanzania Mainland with an estimated population of over 50 million.

Rural Energy Agency (REA) is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of the United Republic of Tanzania. Its main role is to promote and facilitate improved access to modern energy services in rural areas of Mainland Tanzania. REA became operational in October 2007.

The team also attended for pole fiber strength testing which went well too. The representative of the team Engineer Selemani (North Zone Manager of REA III Round 2 project) expressed gratitude to NFCT Management and production for the good work, good cooperation and support.This training highlighted the importance of the private sector in the development of skills for quality assurance in the sector especially of high priority Government project such as rural electrification.
